Exploring Lake Vermilion: 3 Must Stops

Exploring Lake Vermilion: 3 Must Stops

You’re ready to get away and explore the Northwoods! Nothing beats hopping out of the truck and smelling those fresh cedars and pines. We wanted to share with you some our favorite local spots and things to do during a weekend up north.

1. Breakfast at Sulu's or Tower Cafe

Arriving in the morning? Sulu’s Café is a must stop. We love their made to order, build-your-own breakfast sandwiches. Grab a little sheet at the entry way and make it your way! They have an incredible drink menu as well. Coffee, Tea, Smoothies- we haven’t had anything we didn’t like!

The Tower Cafe in Tower, MN just reopened after closing in 2020. We're all so happy to have it back! It is now under new ownership and are a small family business too! Be sure to stop in and support local at either spots.

2. Explore the Soudan Underground Mine State Park

After you’re fueled up head out on the water! If it’s not a lake day, our favorite hiking stop is the Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine State Park. The big pines here are absolutely breath-taking. You can also tour the mine here also and get a little history of the small-town and what was once a booming mine-town.

3. Pizza & more at The Vermilion Club

If you’re ready for dinner you have to make The Vermilion Club next on your list. There isn’t a wrong choice when it comes to food here. Pizza can’t be mentioned without the legendary Bamboozler. A 24-inch pizza that fills the entire table. If you’re with a group or just want leftovers, you have to try it once! The deep-fried green beans are also a must. Don’t knock ‘em until you try ‘em. Really you can’t go wrong with any choices here. The food and people are just great here. They make everyone feel like a local!

This is just a small taste of our favorite spots. We have so many more places and experiences to share with you! We can’t wait to share more of the places and things we love. See you on our next adventure!
